MY NAME IS MARY CATHERINE, BUT A LOT OF MY FRIENDS CALL ME “MC”. JUST DON’T CALL ME MARY, BECAUSE I WON’T CALL YOU BACK! (That is just one of the many corny jokes I like to make. LOL)

A few things about me...

I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have one child: an adult son.  I also have 2 dogs.
I am 4’9”, so I make and hear a ton of short jokes.  I invite you to give me your best one!

Oh, and I am blind. Hence, “My Blind Life”.

I wasn’t born visually impaired.  I WAS born with hydrocephalus (excess fluid on the brain) and had a VP Shunt installed at 28 days old.  Over the years it has malfunctioned a few times, but it malfunctioned most recently in May 2017. At that point, the pressure that built up on my optic nerves damaged or killed most of them, resulting in my vision loss.
At the same time my shunt malfunctioned, I contracted Guillain Barre Syndrome, an auto-immune disease, which left me a bit weaker than I was before.

As a result of my “new normal” I am following a new path and founded and now run a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called Coffee & Cocktails with MC.
